Ana de Armas’ Louis Vuitton Gown Sends Reddit into Battle Mode

Louis Vuitton’s favorite muse glided into the Ballerina premiere looking like a holographic lavender dream: a custom Nicolas Ghesquière gown dripping in silver embroidery, skyscraper platforms, and enough LV diamonds to trigger airport security from a block away.

It was pastel perfection—at least until the images hit Reddit, where every fashion keyboard warrior clocked in for overtime. Suddenly a sparkly dress became the hottest civil war since “Is the dress blue or gold?”

Redditors who hate the look

Doom-scroll the premiere thread, and you’ll spot a chorus of face-palming regulars convinced Ana missed the assignment completely.

The u/circe_a groaned that the lavender slip “totally washes her out while also not at ALL giving World Premiere of a movie in the John Wick universe. I’m seriously confused…”

Translation: they wanted assassin chic—leather, slits, hidden throwing knives—and got sorbet serenity instead.

Another snark leveled the ultimate department-store drag: u/Ok-Housing5911 “It’s giving Macy’s rack pull for the girlfriend of the best man five days before the wedding.” Ouch.

Even commenters willing to defend the fabric’s sparkle couldn’t forgive the styling. “I actually think the dress itself is beautiful; I love the fabric, but I think the look overall is too casual? I would love to see it with an updo (or half up even) and more major jewelry,” wrote u/ladyofthelakeeffect like a true diplomatic critic, basically handing Ana a digital mood board for how to fix it.

Add in the fact that she’s worn metallic LV gowns in as many weeks and the backlash painted the whole moment as déjà vu couture—pretty, pricey, predictable.

Redditors who love the look

Still, the lavender love squad showed up with heart-emoji shields. The u/Then-Champion7124 kicked off with a cheerful, “I guess I’m in the minority, but I quite like it,” and the u/DiceSMS doubled down “I think it’s pretty. I like the slight hint of lavender beneath the surface 💜.”

For them, the gown’s sheer shimmer felt icy-elegant, not underbaked. They argued that minimalist hair plus delicate jewelry let the embroidery do the talking—and anyway, Ana’s ambassador contract practically mandates Vuitton head-to-toe.

The soft-style defenders like u/hasanicecrunch even pulled the wholesome card: “Oo, I love the icy lavender color and the back. And she’s so pretty, and doesn’t she seem like she’s definitely nice in person? She seems sweet.”

In other words, why bully a woman who’s radiating Disney-princess energy and probably says “please” to paparazzi?

Why the Split Exists

Expectation whiplash. Half the subreddit wanted gun-fu glam; the other half vibed with pastel power. Both camps downloaded the same Getty image and projected their hype—or frustration—straight onto the hemline.

Moral of the story? In 2025, even a lavender Louis Vuitton can’t dodge Reddit’s thirst for a hot take, and Ana de Armas just served the internet a couture Rorschach test on a silver platter.
