If you’ve been on nail TikTok this year you already know – matcha nails are THE manicure of the moment. And yes, it’s part of the same food/drink-coded manicure universe that gave us strawberry milk, blueberry milk, sorbet manis, ice cream nails, and Hailey’s glazed donut moment. The “edible” nails era is not slowing down, and matcha is currently lapping the field.

So what shade are we actually talking about? Matcha green is that muted, earthy-meets-milky green that nods to matcha powder and matcha lattes – and there are two clear directions.

Ceremonial matcha is the deeper, earthy, slightly yellow-toned version. Matcha latte is soft, milky sage or pistachio – the more wearable clean-girl pick.

Pinterest searches for matcha nails have absolutely exploded, mostly because nail people keep posting their green sets while holding matcha lattes. Extremely meta.

The wellness-coded angle – antioxidants, calm, ritual – writes its own marketing.

How to wear it? Matcha is replacing the oversaturated pale pinks and beige neutrals everyone’s been recycling for two years.

It reads colorful but not loud, clean but not basic. Solid creamy matcha with a glossy top coat is the entry point.

From there, the options are endless. Go with French tips – classic or micro, on a sheer pink base, or reversed. Try glazed matcha with chrome powder for that Hailey-coded finish.

Marble swirls mimicking latte art are a whole moment. Pink or white polka dots keep it playful. Painted or sculpted florals, stripes, and line art bring the editorial energy.

Gold detailing adds a luxe spin. Cat-eye with magnetic gel gives you shimmering dimension. Aura and ombré are the soft girl picks, and a skittle in every shade of green is the move if you can’t commit to one.

Fruit accents are everywhere too – lemons, cherries, and the biggest viral offshoot of them all: strawberry matcha nails (soft sage + milky strawberry pink with berry art, florals, swirls, and gold details).

Want to push it even further? Layer in animal print, gingham, hearts, stars, micro pearls, or 3D gel swirls.

As for polish recs, I’m loyal to two: OPI The Pass Is Always Greener for that creamy, true matcha-latte finish, and Orly Matcha Foam when I want something a little softer and more cool-leaning (see pic below for how Orly looks on me – obsessed).

And that’s a wrap on matcha latte mani trend – the freshest way to wear green nails this spring and summer. Tell me in the comments if you’re trying it, which design you’re booking first, and don’t forget to share this post with your nail tech bestie before your next appointment.
