Selena Gomez’s Emmys 2026 Manicure Is the Prettiest Early Fall Nail Idea

Selena Gomez’s 2026 Emmys manicure was technically created for a very gold, very glamorous red carpet moment, but I’m stealing it for early fall. 

Celebrity nail artist Tom Bachik gave Gomez a sheer blush-pink manicure with a warm gold shift that he named “Sunset Frost,” and it has exactly the right amount of glow for that weird September period when summer brights feel finished but going straight to burgundy still seems a little aggressive. 

It’s also ridiculously good special-occasion nail inspo: glossy, warm, sparkly enough to feel dressed up and still subtle enough to work with basically anything.

Styled by Erin Walsh, Gomez wore a custom strapless Louis Vuitton gown made from shimmering gold chainmail. The metalwork curved into a spiral around her waist before opening into a soft mermaid silhouette, while mixed-metal Tiffany & Co. jewelry from the Bird on a Rock collection added even more gold and diamonds.

The beauty look stayed warm and soft. Hairstylist Renato Campora styled her hair in long, loose waves, while makeup artist Hung Vanngo gave her luminous skin, rosy cheeks and peachy-pink tones.

Basically, there was already a lot happening here. An opaque gold manicure could have taken the whole Emmy-statue situation one step too far. Instead, Bachik picked up the warmth of the dress without literally matching it.

Bachik, Selena’s longtime nail artist, described the Louis Vuitton gown as having a frosted-gold effect and wanted the nails to have the same soft metallic quality.

He kept Gomez’s nails in a medium rounded almond shape and used a translucent blush shade filled with fine gold pearl. Depending on the light, the manicure shifts between pale pink, peach and warm gold rather than sitting at one flat metallic color.

That little color shift is what gets me. From a distance, they almost look like very polished neutral nails. Zoom in and suddenly there’s gold running through them.

The star of the manicure was Gel by Essie Frost Yourself, from the brand’s Liquid Diamonds collection.

Essie describes Frost Yourself as a diamond-dust-infused blush pink with an iridescent gold flip pearl. It’s intentionally sheer, which explains why Selena’s natural nail still shows underneath instead of disappearing under an opaque layer of color.

And despite the Gel by Essie name, you don’t need a lamp. The system air-dries like regular polish and uses two coats of color followed by the top coat. Essie also says you can skip base coat altogether.

How to copy Selena’s Emmys manicure

Start by filing the nails into your preferred shape and cleaning up the cuticles. Selena wore rounded almond nails, but I’d absolutely do this on short squoval or round nails too. The finish matters much more than the length here.

Apply two thin coats of Frost Yourself. Don’t keep layering it because you’re waiting for full opacity - the translucency is part of the look. You want that blush base to stay soft while the gold pearl catches the light. Finish with Gel by Essie Shiny Top Coat and cuticle oil.

If you don’t have the exact polish, look for a sheer blush, peachy pink or warm nude with very fine gold pearl. Skip anything too silver, icy or heavily chromed. Selena’s manicure works because everything leans warm.

Why it works for special occasions and early fall

The sheer pink base keeps this neutral enough for weddings, dinners and parties, while the gold shift gives it enough glow to feel special. It also works beautifully with jewelry, without tipping into full metallic territory.

I like it just as much for early fall. Frost Yourself still has the lightness of a summer manicure, but the peachy-gold finish looks right at home with denim, camel, brown, olive, cream and gold jewelry. So if you’re not ready to jump straight into burgundy, plum and chocolate nails, this is a very pretty September middle ground.
