Anne Hathaway Went Dark While Dakota Johnson Sparkled at the 'Verity' Premiere

The Verity press tour brought Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson together for the September 29 New York premiere, and they took completely different routes. Hathaway wore black embellished Atelier Prabal Gurung, while Johnson chose a white crystal-fringed Calvin Klein two-piece. Josh Hartnett and Ismael Cruz Córdova delivered the strongest menswear looks, with Colleen Hoover, Tamsin Egerton, and more also joining the carpet.

So yes: writer drama, marital tension and a house full of reasons to leave immediately. The movie hits theaters October 2.

Styled by Erin Walsh, she wore a custom Atelier Prabal Gurung gown in black shredded chiffon, with floral and crystal-bead embroidery, a sweetheart neckline, pleated tulle and a sequin skirt that extended into a train. A sheer glittering cape completed the fitted mermaid silhouette.
Embed from Getty ImagesThere’s a lot here - flowers, crystals, chiffon, tulle, sequins, a cape - but the look still feels focused. I especially like that the gown works with her pregnancy rather than turning it into the entire fashion story. The dark romantic detailing also happens to fit Verity, a movie built around secrets, obsession and people behaving very suspiciously in expensive houses.
Embed from Getty ImagesHathaway added teardrop earrings, rings and a diamond bracelet, with half-up hair, bronze eye makeup and a nude lip. After missing the London screening and staying in New York during her pregnancy, the elaborate gown felt fitting for her red-carpet return.

Styled by Kate Young, she wore a custom Calvin Klein Collection look with a white iridescent sequin crop top, matching high-slit column skirt, long crystal fringe and square-toed white leather sandals.
Embed from Getty ImagesIt was a smart change after her London Verity premiere, where she wore sheer ivory lace by Colleen Allen over black Fleur du Mal lingerie. She could have continued her sheer-dress streak for another four business days, but the New York look felt different while still being very Dakota.

The simple crop-top-and-column-skirt base gives the fringe room to move, and it continued Johnson’s Calvin Klein streak without repeating the blush sequin gown she wore to the VMAs two nights earlier.

Ismael Cruz Córdova went more formal in a charcoal suit with a crisp white shirt and black tie, giving the men’s side of the carpet its sharpest look.
